Kevin: "The car is getting soft, trans is so so, taking
it easy and losing about
3 seconds a lap to save the car.. we want to finish
this one. We won't catch Alex unless he breaks, and
we're waiting for the G&W car to go soft as well"
Car 67 in for some gas tires oil...
For Gary a little well deserved shut eye is in order.
Why not? The boss man Kevin's back to the trailer for a snooze!
Craig2 keeps track of lap times from the wall.
1:20 AM Brian gets ready for his stint in number 67
1:28 Pit stop for brakes, gas, tires....
You can't see it here, but the brakes are literally smokin' hot.'
The entire nose is now made of Racer's Tape. It's 3 or 4 layers thick because it needs to be torn off every time oil is added.
1:30 Alex Job is up to 6th at 336 laps, G&W is 9th at 329, Reiser 02 is in 11th at 327. TRG68 is 12th (4th in GT3 at 326 laps. The unavoidable and lengthy pit stop for brakes and a nose job was absolutely painful to watch. Car 67 is back in 24th with 312 laps put away.
1:32 - Car 67 smacks a barrier and destroys the left
fender... taking with it the oil cooler.
The oil cooler is history... oil is everywhere
Oil stains the side of the car...
A replacement is rushed from the paddock and installed. The brake ducting needs to be replaced as well.... 15 minutes so far... twenty.... the news isn't good. Apparently the oil shortage was severe enough to cook the motor. The car gets pushed behind the wall with 312 laps to it's credit. Some mighty disappointed crew members. Now all energy must be focused on the 68 car.
2:35 - 68 pits
What a mess that Duct Tape is...But the car returns to the track ahead of Reiser 02 and pops into 3rd place in GT3 with Nick Holt at the wheel. Nick got stoked by doing pushups before he jumped in the car.
2:40 TRG 68 is third in GT3 and 10th overall, nearly lap ahead of Reiser 02 but still three down on G&W 07 and 10 off the GT3 leader Alex Job Racing 23, who is now 6th overall. If he can catch another 12 seconds he can put Reiser down a lap.
2:53 Car is back in the pits for a vibration in the
front end...but nothing is found. Still get tires and gas
And our caterer Donna handles orios, chili, water,
and any other consumables for the entire team
3:00 AM TRG With nick at the helm is 47 seconds back
from the third in class Reiser Racing #02,
with 368 laps put away. The leader in GT3 is
still Alex Job, 9 laps ahead, and total laps
for the overall leaders is 412.
