OK, so I bought this 993 rear suspension.....and decided to install
that in the GT3R. The car was dropped off at KFAB in early september
2001. By January 15, 2002 the following had been completed:
Which was annoying as hell. The project stalled until we could determine how best to hang the rear suspension. I mocked it up in place as shown above.
Kenny McNeil came to the rescue with a video of a car he had done in Indiana. After watching it a billion times, I did the plans in CAD and the project was again underway by April 15th!
That is the cage as of April 23, 2002. Still to be completed are some gussets in the corners of the roof, at the rear engine section, the removable rear cross member, the transmission mounts, and a front "nerf" bar for some protection.
I plan to pick it up Saturday April 27th and resume mechanical work. The floor pan needs attention, and the car needs to be stripped, I need to hang pedals, front suspension, shocks, etc. Should be interesting. IT will be very nice to have the project back under my control.
